Join Marathon Cup BTT - Girona - Sea Otter Europe 2025
The Marathon Cup BTT is one of the most renowned and successful bike-marathon competitions in our territory. A championship born with the philosophy of offering attractive routes for both professional runners and amateurs who are just starting out in this sport. This can be defined in two words: tough and captivating. The race proposes a spectacular route in the heart of the province of Girona, one of the great cycling capitals. The trails are the main protagonists of a route that tests the physical condition and technical skills of the riders. A unique opportunity to enjoy both the volcanic environment of La Garrotxa and the Mediterranean forests that surround the cycling capital.
Course details
Departure from Fontajau, gliding towards Sant Gregori (KM 6.5). At the Argelaguer bridge, we join a track to go in search of the Font del Raig at KM 8.2. From this point, we alternate paths and a track that goes up and down through leafy forests to reach the church of San Gregorio at KM 13.2. We enter the path at the Fuente de Can Verdaguer to go towards Can Taco de Ginestar (KM 19) to enter the area of the Llémena stream. We will pass the river (KM 20.7) where we will find a technical but easy climb. Then, another climb continues to the point where the XCP and XCM separate (KM 24). We will descend to Llora and here we will have a flat area on a track for about 3 km to relax our legs. At KM30.5, we'll cross the Llémena River again to face a steep climb on a track until KM32, where we'll find a refreshment station and a technical equipment area. We'll change sides of the mountain to enter an area of technical descents and climbs on a track until we reach KM41.5, where the two XCM and XCP distances meet again. There we'll have a refreshment station to face the last part of the route towards Sant Grau; climbs and descents on a track until KM47, where we'll begin gliding towards Sant Gregori to join the path that follows the River Ter until we reach Fontajau (KM59.2).
